YOUR FAMILY WEALTH PLANNING SESSION

You are set for your Family Wealth Planning Session.

Here is how to get the most out of the time with your attorney. None of it takes long, and all of it makes the session more useful.

BEFORE WE MEET

Complete the Family Wealth Inventory and Assessment

It is a short questionnaire about your family, what you own and what matters most to you. Your attorney reads it before the session, so the time together is spent on decisions rather than data entry. Approximate figures are fine.

Your questionnaire link arrives by email. If it has not reached you a few days before the session, call us at 704-288-4700.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Bring the decision-makers

  • Both spouses or partners, if you are married or have a partner. The plan covers both of you, and the decisions go faster when you hear the same thing at the same time.
  • Anyone who will be a decision-maker about your plan, such as a family member you rely on for these choices.

WHAT TO BRING

A few things to have handy

  • A rough list of what you own and owe. Home, accounts, retirement plans, life insurance, business interests, and any debts. Estimates are fine.
  • Your current estate planning documents, if you have any: will, trust, powers of attorney, health care directives.
  • Names you are considering for key roles. Who would raise your children, manage your affairs if you could not, and handle things after you are gone.
  • Your questions. Write them down as they come to you so nothing gets lost.
